Artist Statement
I’m an idealist at heart. The fruit cups are an ongoing series where beauty, luxury and abundance are examined. I wanted to highlight the luminous surface of the porcelain with the bright joyful glazes to uplift the spirits. When I’m drinking from a cup, I meditate on the intimate exchange between the two vessels (the cup and myself), and to me that is really beautiful. - Joanna Powell
